Caroline's Creative Initiatives is thrilled to announce the expansion of its pre-professional Internship Program with the launch of Contemporary Dance KL (Kawartha Lakes).

This year-long technique and choreography training program for ages 13+ offers dancers the opportunity to experience contemporary dance through the lens of a professional company. Designed to complement ongoing studio training, Contemporary Dance KL provides dancers with a unique bridge between recreational or competitive dance education and the professional dance industry.

Company dancers will receive a partially subsidized weekly technique class followed by a choreography and creative process session where they will learn original contemporary repertoire sponsored by local businesses and community partners. Throughout the season, dancers will work closely with professional artists, gain valuable networking opportunities, and be eligible for scholarship opportunities from professional contemporary dance training programs affiliated with Caroline's Creative Initiatives. The choreography learned throughout the season will be presented as part of Caroline's Creative Initiatives' professional contemporary dance production in May 2027 in Peterborough, alongside professional contemporary dancers from across Canada.

Featured Choreographers

This season's repertoire will include:

  • A new original creation by Artistic Director Caroline Bentley

  • A commissioned work by acclaimed Canadian contemporary dance artist Willem Sadler

Willem Sadler is an accomplished artist who has performed in a wide range of contemporary dance productions both nationally and internationally. His performance credits include collaborations with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Mirvish Productions, Dusk Dances, CCDT, Dance Collection Danse, Zata OMM, ProArteDanza, and Côté Danse. He has also worked with renowned choreographers including Jennifer Archibald, Guillaume Côté, Colin Connor, William Yong, and Robert Lepage.
